One summer, a lazy Grasshopper was chirping and singing in the field. Every day, he watched an Ant carrying heavy corn to his nest.
In the first month, the sun was bright. The Grasshopper saw the Ant sweating.
“Hey, Ant! The sun is so warm,” said the Grasshopper. “Why do you work so hard? Come and sing with me!”

But the Ant replied firmly, “I am storing food for winter. Winter is coming, and you should be ready.”
In the second month, the trees were full of fruits. The Grasshopper saw the Ant pushing a big seed.
“Hey, Ant! The food is everywhere,” laughed the Grasshopper. “Why do you worry so much? Come and dance with me!”
The Ant answered again, “I am storing food for winter. Winter is coming, and you should be ready.”
In the third month, the air turned cool. The Grasshopper saw the Ant pulling a heavy grain.
“Hey, Ant! You look so tired,” mocked the Grasshopper. “Why don’t you relax? Come and sleep like me!”
The Ant still did not stop. He said for the last time, “I am storing food for winter. Winter is coming, and you should be ready.”
Finally, winter came. The snow covered the ground. The Grasshopper had no food. Shivering with cold, he knocked on the Ant’s door.
“Please, Ant,” he begged. “Give me some food. I am starving.”
The Ant looked at him and said, “I warned you three times. What did you do when I told you to get ready?”
“I… I was singing, dancing, and sleeping,” whispered the Grasshopper.
The Ant closed the door slowly. “Well, if you played all summer, you can dance all winter.”
